Decades in production. Built for what's next.
GemDB has run mission-critical systems for the institutions that can least afford to be wrong — for longer than most of today's databases have existed.
GemDB began as an object database built to solve a problem relational systems never could: storing data the way applications actually think, with guarantees strong enough for the world's most demanding transactional workloads. Decades later, that engine still runs in production at Fortune 500 institutions across financial services and insurance — carrying forward every guarantee it's ever made, one release at a time.
In 2026, GemDB was acquired by Emergence, a permanent capital platform backed by The Pritzker Organization. That backing means GemDB is being built for the next several decades the same way it was built for the last several — deliberately, without the pressure to cut corners for a quick outcome.
